Dr Sitoh Yih Yiow is a consultant geriatrician who graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1991. He obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 1996 and was awarded a Higher Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) fellowship by the Ministry of Health, Singapore in 2000, during which he had the privilege of working as a clinical fellow with the Institute of Bone and Joint Research of the University of Sydney, and the Bernard Curran Rehabilitation Unit of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Services of Northern Sydney. He went on to complete his Specialist Certification in Geriatric Medicine by the Joint Committee on Specialist Training & the Specialist Accreditation Board, Ministry of Health, Singapore in 2001. He has extensive experience in the assessment and management of geriatric syndromes and has a special interest in geriatric rehabilitation, osteoporosis and other rheumatological conditions in older persons, and dementia.

Dr Sitoh has been actively involved in the teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students in different aspects of Geriatric Medicine and is a part-time lecturer with the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He has an active interest in clinical research into different areas of health concerns affecting older persons and has been awarded institutional grants as well as grants from the National Medical Research Council and ASTAR to conduct studies into areas that included dementia, swallowing difficulties, falls, quality of life in older persons and health outcomes. He has over 20 publications in local and international journals, concerning a range of topics that include dementia, swallowing problems, falls and osteoporosis as well as concerns pertaining to health services.

Dr Sitoh has also been a member of the Medical Excellence Project Team 2006, Ministry of Health, Singapore and was a member of the Ministry of Health workgroup on clinical practice guidelines for falls prevention (2002 to 2006). He has also sat on the medical advisory board for Mount Alvernia Hospital and chaired the Continuing Medical Education Committee there.
